The Map Store is the DeLorme-owned retail establishment located on the first floor of its headquarters building in Yarmouth, Maine. The Map Store features DeLorme products as well as products from other vendors in its effort to be the region's most complete mapping resource

With the opening two years ago of the new headquarters and the completion and dedication of Eartha™, the worlds largest and most accurate revolving globe, the resulting interest in DeLorme and its product line was reflected in dramatic sales growth in the Map Store. Eartha, located in DeLorme atrium lobby adjacent to the Map Store, was an instant attraction.

This retail sales growth put a severe strain on our point-of-sale system. A list of the criteria for a new system was drawn up, and POS vendors were contacted and invited to present their systems. A major requirement of the Map Store was interfacing our retail sales business with our Oracle® ERP applications and our retail database.

The conversion to POS 2000 was complete in three days, a period during which a complete store inventory was taken and all Sales Associates were trained. The summer months are our busiest, yet POS 2000 handled our high transaction days without any hold-ups or adverse effects on customer service.

POS 2000 is providing sales and inventory information that can be used by corporate as well as retail management. If a new report is needed, we have found MIK to be responsive and creative. POS 2000 was an excellent solution to the retail needs of a rapidly growing store.
