National Aquarium in Baltimore
We were in dire need for a new Point
of Sale Application. In our old system we had 10 registers in three
different store locations all within the two buildings that comprise
the visitor experience at the Nation Aquarium in Baltimore. The
point of sale system that we were utilizing had many severe problems.
We could not interface to our accounting package. In fact
ALL sales had to be manually entered into the accounting system.
The system was unreliable to the extent that we had shut down an
entire location due to system problems. Lastly, we had no support
from the software vendor and had to utilize our accounting VAR to
attempt to sort through the problems.
Today, things are totally different. There are three primary reasons why. First, the implementation team from MIK; Second, the quality of the product, POS
2000; and Third, the continued support from Mik & Associates.
The implementation team from MIK was one of the best that I have
ever worked with. Sandy Guenette, the project manager from MIK,
became an advocate from the National Aquarium. She spent numerous
hours learning not only our business, but also the environment that
exists within our stores. This was indispensable as we worked through
the customization of the program. There were many times when Sandy
would stop the conversation with the programmers and would say:
"This is why they [The National Aquarium in Baltimore] need this
application to run, to fit their business. I know, I was there."
Having this type of relationship ensured that ALL of our needs were
clearly understood and the delivered product met these needs.
The POS 2000 system has been up and running continuously since March 13, 2000. Needless to say, when we went live, we were very apprehensive. With the
last system, we had an emergency meeting two hours after launching the application to create a multi page list of things that were wrong. With the POS 2000,
we again met two hours after going live; however, this time it was to have a cup of coffee and just sit and smile. We had no, repeat no, problems
with the system the day we went live. In addition, we have experienced little to no downtime since then.
Since going live, the quality of service that we received from Mik
& Associates has continued at the same level of excellence.
Any issues that we have had have been resolved in a timely manner.
There is no better compliment than that for a software provider.
It has been and continues to be a pleasure to work with the outstanding team at Mik & Associates. The level of customer service and professionalism is
second to none. I would not hesitate to recommend this system to anyone needing a point of sale application. Things have worked out so well with POS 2000
that we are looking at implementing their bar-coding application as well.
