21st Century Christian, Inc. is a retail/wholesale distributor and publisher of Christian-related materials. The company uses accounting and distribution
modules from Macola Software to service about 14,000 customers worldwide. Among the many methods used to contact and service customers are catalogs, mail,
telephone, fax, a 5000 square foot bookstore, on-site teacher workshops and Bible classes, off-site workshops and lectureships/seminars, and the internet.
In June 1999, the Macola system was upgraded from the v6.x DOS edition to the v7.x Windows edition. In the process, the corresponding upgrade for the third-party
point-of-sale interface turned out to be a disaster as it introduced a system-crashing bug in its code that the software provider was never able to fix. At the time,
theirs was the only POS interface available for Macola, but after months of suffering by personnel and experiencing terrible damage to customer relations, the
management at 21st Century Christian saw no other choice but to dump the Macola system and switch to another.
Enter Mik & Associates. In March 2000, they approached 21st
Century Christian with their new Macola interface for their POS
2000 system and an excited "can-do" attitude. The software's functionality,
flexibility, and ease of learning were apparent. These, coupled
with their long experience of developing the POS software for other
accounting systems, proved to the 21st Century management
that Mik & Associates had a good solution for their problems.
Since the installation of the POS 2000 system the following May,
Mik & Associates has continuously provided instant
support, a knowledgeable staff, and a genuine willingness to listen
to and adapt for customer's needs. They present a
prime example of many characteristics that all software companies
should strive to emulate. This was illustrated recently when 21st
Century Christian's needs to add a second portable register was
unexpectedly advanced by a week. Even though it was a last-minute
notification, Mik & Associates made it a priority, and delivered
the new register software with time to spare.
In short, the staff of Mik & Associates provides working, "can-do" solutions that have helped 21st Century Christian service the needs of its
customers as well as those of its employees.
